I Kissed Him On A Grand Piano
                                                    (Romantic)

I Kissed him for the very first time,
As I ran my fingers through his hair.
I kissed him for the very first time,
As I floated through the air.

I kissed him in the living room,
                              Against the stairwell banner.
I kissed him under the crystal chandelier,
                              And on A Grand Piano.

                             My heart was pounding
                             My knees were shaking ...
                             The sweet smell of love
                             Was the only thing baking.

                             Now that I love you,
                             I will close my door.
You are the man of my dreams,
And ... I shall look no more.

48 POEMS by Gregory L. Hudson is a highly stylized literary composition of electrifying poems.  There are 48 original poems emcompasing eight different genres with each genre containing six poems totaling 48.  The genres include, romantic, dramatic, thanksgiving, tragic, comedic, ironic, christmas and children.

Subtitled "Reflections Of A Poet" because it gives a rare and indept look into the heart, mind and soul of one of North Americas' "purest writers" of our time; who is bound only by the limits of his imagination and creativity.

Romantic: Every man should read the master piece, "Love Me With Your Heart" to his love one at least once.  Dramatic: "You Can't Break My Spirit" is the quintessential story of the black man's conquest over slavery.

Thanksgiving..."Thank You For Giving" will warm your heart as if it were a flaming charcoal on a cool summer night.  Tragic: Tragedy is as much a part of life as is living and "Untimely Death" will evoke tears and drown your eyes with compassion.

Comedic: no one can read "Ugly Like A Truck" and not chuckle as this woman describes her man as "ugly like a truck." Ironic: nothing expresses irony like "A Messiah Is Coming;" a tribute to President Barrack Obama, as well as, the poem "One Nation...Under Oprah" which elaborates on Oprah Winfrey's rise from the Mississippi Delta to the queen of talk show television and her all girl school in South Africa.

Christmas: There is no other poem that expresses "Christmas Time In New York City" like this poem.  The children genre: Seemingly every child has claimed to have had "A Fly In My Soup."

48 POEMS is a gold mine of love and language that is nothing short of a brilliant literary work that promotes literacy, academics and advances scholarship into the next millenium.

               Now I'm Broke
          (Comedic)

I was sitting on top of the world,
And my bank account was off the wall.
Now I am busted, dusted, and disgusted,
And got nothing but holes in my dwaws.

I come fromthe hood on the soutside of Queens,
An was the ultimate story of rags to riches.
                   Now I'm so darn broke,
I got nothing but holes in my britches.

I had money, fame, fancy cars, and lots of pretty girls.
                   And just like that ...
I aint got a dime left in this world.

                   I never thought about saving,
Because my bank account seemed so long.
                   My money has dried up,
And my so-called friends are all gone.

                   I ain't even got a watch,
So I kant tell the time.
Please somebody, give me a dollar,
                  'Cause I ain't got ... a dime!

                   I had so much money,
That it seemed like a joke.
It ain't funny at all, people,
                   'Cause now I'm broke.

                   Ugly Like A Truck
                                 (Comedic)

My man is ugly like a truck,
But I married him and took his name.
They said he's the ugliest man alive,
But I love him just the same.

He's got bird feet and his toes are long,
And I scrub them because they are rusty.
We live together in spite of his smell,
     Whew! These arms are musty.

He's got buck teeth, his eyes are big,
Like the headlights on an eighteen-wheeler truck.
His nose is fat and lips are flat,
Like a stressed out ugly duck.

He smiles at me and I wanna laugh,
But he can't help the way he is.
He opens his mouth, and I shake my head ...
Man ... did you see his grill.

He's still my man and I don't care,
'Cause he's just on a streak of bad luck.
I prayed last night and awoke this morning,
And he's still ... ugly like a truck.

             Christmastime In The City
                                    (Christmas)

Have you ever been to New York City,
When the Christmas decorations are out?
There are thousands and thousands of people,
       Milling all about.

There are Christmas trees, a merry breeze,
And horse carriages throughout Central Park.
Children are happy, shoppers are dashing,
As the snowflakes fall in the dark.

There's Radio City Music Hall and Carnegie Hall,
Just a few blocks from Rockefeller Center Square.
There are beautiful sounds of the best music around,
       And a Christmas spectular there.

Then there's Lincoln Center, Fifth Avenue,
Or a short train ride to BAM
As you shop throughout the day.
       The stores are full
       And the resturants are packed,
And you haven't even made it to Broadway.

Now your belly is stuffed and your pockets are low,
And you feel like you've seen it all.
Don't sleep now, 'cause on New Year's Eve ...
In Times Square they will drop the ball.

It's Christmastime In New York City.

             Journey To The Unknown
                                    (Dramatic)

My journey is to the unknown,
As I brave the morning dew.
My journey is to the unknown,
                  I'm not afriad of you!

                  Threaten me with your words,
And anger me with your lies.
                  My courage is beyond reproach,
I will never miss a stride.

My journey is to the unknown,
As the world stops and stands.
My journey is to the unknown ...
                  And I'm the better man.
